Cameroon’s Ministry of Water and Energy has unveiled a shortlist of companies and consortiums invited to bid for the revision of the country’s National Master Plan for electricity generation, transmission, and distribution.

The announcement was made through the Coordination Unit of the Electricity Sector Reform Programme (PRSE), as part of a broader initiative to modernise the nation’s energy infrastructure.

The project is backed by the International Development Association (IDA), a branch of the World Bank.

The shortlisted candidates include several prominent engineering firms and consortiums: Électricité de France (EDF); IED Consult & HB Consults; Artelia & Nodalis; Ginger, Sofreco & Genex; MRC & Seureca; Studi International, Ideaconsult International & Studi Cameroun; and Suez Consulting, Engie Impact & Fatsons Engineering.

The successful bidder will be selected using the Quality and Cost-Based Selection (QCBS) method, based on a Full Technical Proposal (FTP).

Officials say the updated master plan will serve as a strategic roadmap to guide future public and private investment in Cameroon’s electricity sector.

It will take into account new challenges and opportunities linked to the energy transition, population growth, rural electrification, and the expansion of renewable energy sources.
