Belltree, a UK-based energy consultancy specializing in subsurface intelligence, has entered into a strategic partnership with Earlsfield Energy to fast-track the identification and development of carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects.

The collaboration was formalized through a memorandum of understanding announced on 30 October 2025 in a joint press release seen by The Bavijas Club.

This partnership brings together Belltree’s advanced digital evaluation technology and Earlsfield Energy’s project development and operational expertise,” the statement noted.

The global CCS sector is experiencing rapid growth, with over 500 projects currently in development—an increase of fivefold over the past five years, according to the Global CCS Institute.

The International Energy Agency estimates that operational CCS capacity could reach approximately 430m t/yr by 2030, having already surpassed 50m tonnes annually.

As investment in CCS accelerates, the ability to quickly identify and mature viable storage sites has become a key differentiator.

The partnership aims to meet this demand by combining Belltree’s technical evaluation capabilities with Earlsfield’s expertise in project development and low-carbon infrastructure.

Smart deployment of Belltree’s digital platform brings a new dimension to EarlsfieldEnergy’s strategy to acquire, build and operate assets in the gas production sector and the carbon storage space,” said Pierre Girard, Chief Executive at Earlsfield Energy.

We are looking forward to a phase of co-creation of new products and workflows.”

Earlsfield is focused on delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions that balance economic and environmental goals. Its end-to-end approach spans project screening, permitting, development, and long-term operations.

This agreement represents an important step for Belltree as we extend the reach of our digital evaluation platform,” said Grant Stewart, Business Development Director at Belltree.

Our bMarkTM CCS platform enables fast, data-driven assessment of storage opportunities through comprehensive technical evaluation to fully investable decisions.”

At the centre of the collaboration is bMarkTM CCS, Belltree’s benchmarking and screening tool designed to assess subsurface storage potential efficiently, systematically and with regulatory readiness in mind.

Widely used by operators, regulators, and investors, bMarkTM supports critical decision-making across the energy value chain.

Earlsfield will integrate this technology into its project screening workflows to enhance portfolio growth, with a focus on technically robust, low-emissions solutions.

The partnership is expected to facilitate joint technical studies to advance selected opportunities to full technical and commercial readiness for investment.

Both companies have also expressed openness to working with additional partners and investors committed to accelerating CCS development.
